Martines—Sinfonia
Beethoven—Piano Concerto No. 5 (Emperor)
Vaughan Williams—Symphony No. 5
Running Time: approx. 1 hour 55 minutes, with one intermission
WHAT'S INTERESTING ABOUT THIS CONCERT
- The season opens with Beethoven’s best known and most performed piano concerto, paired with music by Mozart contemporary Marianna Martines.
- Vaughan Williams’ soul-soothing Symphony No. 5 was composed to unify and console a nation during WWII. Music Director Donato Cabrera chose this piece as a balm to our Bay Area community, in acknowledgment of our shared experience during the pandemic.
