Dr. Mackin is a clinical neuropsychologist and Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco. His research program is focused on structural and functional brain abnormalities associated with accelerated cognitive decline in older adults with depression.
Dr. Mackins’ talk will review current literature summarizing the link between major depression and Alzheimer’s disease. He will explore major depression as a risk factor for AD, current findings associating depressive symptoms and cognitive decline, and implications for treatment of depression in older adults with mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer’s disease.
