Celebrate Diablo Ballet’s 28th Anniversary with a one-night only performance at the Lesher Center for the Arts. 

Running Time: approx. 60 minutes, with no intermission
Sur le Fil
Music: Michael Wall, Yann Tiersen, Moondog
Choreography: Penny Saunders

Featured on the program is the company premiere of Penny Saunders’ Sur le Fil which premiered with Tulsa Ballet 2 in 2018.  The ballet was inspired by Saunders’ thoughts around the mischievousness nature of life, and the common reality we share of having personal secrets that we would prefer kept in the dark.

Waltz of the Hours
Music: Coppélia, ou La Fille aux Yeux d’émail
Choreography: Amanda Farris and DBS Faculty

The program also includes a special performance of “Waltz of the Hours” from Coppélia performed by the advanced level students at Diablo Ballet School.

Happy, You're Happy
Music: Frederic Chopin’s Nocturne Op. 55: No. 1 in F Minor
Choreography: Michael Wells

Company dancer and choreographer, Michael Wells, creates a new work in honor of our Anniversary Performance. The solo, performed by company dancer Jackie McConnell, will be set to the music of Frederic Chopin.

Orange
Music: Antonio Vivaldi
Choreography: Stanton Welch

A sweeping contemporary ballet set to music by Antonio Vivaldi, Orange is danced by three couples and choreographed by Australian choreographer Stanton Welch who is the Artistic Director at Houston Ballet.

Flames of Paris
Music: Boris Asafyev
Choreography: Vasily Vainonen

An encore presentation of the spectacular Flames of Paris staged by Lauren Jonas featuring the entire company. The ballet set to music by Boris Asafyev based on songs of the French Revolution originally premiered at the Kirov Theatre in Leningrad in 1932 and later premiered by the Bolshoi Ballet 1933.
