Featuring Amy Likar, Piccolo
November 6, 2016
Each composer featured on the program has created a work to evoke specific images through storytelling in sound. Two works, The Tempest by 19th century American composer John Knowles Paine and Dvorak's Othello Overture celebrate Shakespeare400. Amy Likar, piccoloist with the Oakland East Bay Symphony reprises Martin Rokeach's Concerto for Piccolo and Orchestra, composed for her, and premiered by OEBS last year. We celebrate Argentinian composer Alberto Ginastera's 100th birthday with his evocative tone poem, Pampaena No. 3, the third in his trilogy of symphonic poems that celebrate the low-lying plains of his home country.
