Bruckner himself said his Sixth Symphony “is the boldest” (some translations say “saucy”!), and when you hear it, you can tell he used to be an organist, layering sound upon sound into a musical kaleidoscope. Combined with Bruckner, the composer obsessed with death, is the world premiere of a California Symphony commission by Dan Visconti, the living composer obsessed with life, and specifically the life and energy of the orchestra. Beethoven kicks off this finale trifecta, bringing our spectacular 30th anniversary season to a triumphant close.
