Bond with your child (or grandchild!) on a creative self-reflecting journey at BG’s Family Workshop: Self-Portrait Collage! Designed for you and your special youngster ages 10 to 17, this workshop blends storytelling with art as participants explore their personal narratives through collage-making. Cut Paste Create artist and Los Angeles Times art director Susana Sanchez-Young will guide participants on how to piece together a self-expressive collage with insider knowledge from her 20-year career in visual journalism. No prior experience is needed—just bring an open mind and find inspiration in BG’s current exhibition, Cut Paste Create: The Art of Collage. All materials provided but participants are encouraged to bring photos of themselves, their favorite things, or anything else that represents them to incorporate in their artwork. Includes free entry to Cut Paste Create.
Get your tickets for this one-of-a-kind workshop before registration closes Saturday, August 24 at 11:59 pm. Adult $25 / Youth (ages 10-17) $15. Advance tickets are required for all participants, and space is limited. Open to parents, grandparents, guardians and their youth, ages 10 to 17. All youth must be accompanied by an adult.
About Susana Sanchez-Young
Susana Sanchez-Young is an art director, illustrator, content creator and designer with a visual journalism career spanning over 20 years. She worked seven and a half years at the Washington Post, and she is currently an art director with the Los Angeles Times.
As an art director and illustrator for a daily newspaper, part of her day is spent looking for images to create collages for feature or breaking news stories. Susana estimates that she has created over 1,000 illustrations/collages in her career, both digitally and with paper and glue.
