Music Direction & Conducted by Brad Hogarth
October 24, 2021

Welcome Back: A Night at the Globe Theater marks the Contra Costa Wind Symphony’s return to live performance after our 18-month hiatus due to COVID-19. We are eager to get back on stage, and we have a program of exciting material lined up.

Our program starts with a suite based on Shakespeare’s Othello by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, arranged for wind ensemble by John Asendorf. This is followed by our featured guest soloist, Dr. Mark Almond, associate principal horn with the San Francisco Symphony, playing Edward Gregson's Horn Concerto. Then we continue our tribute to the Bard with Sergei Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet Suite, arranged for wind ensemble by Johan de Meij.

Finally, a West Coast premiere of Tyler Harrison’s “Fantastique,” a comic piece inspired by Hector Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique, a fitting salute to the upcoming Halloween season.
