Presented by Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra
Music Direction and Conducted by Timothy Smith
May 14, 2017

The bookend to Set #1 - this concert features Mendelssohn's "Reformation Symphony", to celebrate the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation, and pairs this with the world premiere of bay area composer Noah Luna's new work "A Mighty Fortress" based on the same Luther Hymn that Mendelssohn used. A suite of music from William Walton's film score to Richard III is a microcosm of the Then and Now theme, as is Richard Rodney Bennett's Reflections on a 16th Century Tune.
