Close your eyes and you’re in the neighborhood dance halls, on the riverboats, or in the French Quarter where the Preservation Hall Jazz Band makes its home. The Band is fifty years young. With its own voice and sound, a sound that is at once unique and identifiable, infused by legendary New Orleans musicians whose careers reach back to Buddy Bolden, King Oliver, and Louis Armstrong, its current artists remain steeped in the vibrant musical tradition of New Orleans. The Band travels the world one hundred-fifty days a year sharing its iconic sound with jazz lovers everywhere.
Joining PHJB is the legendary Irma Thomas who is indisputably “The Soul Queen of New Orleans.” A contemporary and peer of Aretha Franklin and Etta James, Thomas is known as “a treasure from the golden age of soul music.” She is a Grammy winner for Best Contemporary Blues Album with her 2007 recording After the Rain.
Running Time: approx. 2 hours 15 minutes, with one intermission
